Anime like Sword Art Online – Is It Possible To Beat?

In short no, but there are a couple similar one’s which you might definitely want to watch. Finding an anime like sword art online is definitely tough – if you’re like me, you like every aspect of this series – but there is hope!

What do you like about sword art online? Is it the epic battles? Is it the fantasy world? Is it never knowing what the next episode will bring?

I’m going to offer you suggestions depending on what part of the anime you like, and hopefully I can point you in the direction of a great anime. This site is relatively new, so i may not have a review for the one I point you towards, but trust me, I will do my best! I think I saw a couple sites comparing SOA to Hellsing, Btoom, and hunter x hunter, which is just wrong !

If you’re in it for the main character being a badass that nobody can touch, i have an obvious answer. Mondaijitachi ga Isekai Kara Kuru Sou Desu yo . This series follows an overconfident guy locked in a fantasy type world similar to sword art online. He is like Kirito because he tries to act aloof and distant, but actually cares a lot about his friends and the people he meets. He’s extremely powerful (we don’t even see the extent of his abilties) and others are constantly trying to recruit him to their cause (much like SOA). Although they are not the same kind of anime, if your taste is simiilar to mine, you will definitely want to watch Mondaijitachi ga Isekai Kara Kuru Sou Desu yo. Chances are you’ve never heard of it either!

If you’re in it for the cool battle sequences, there are a few similar anime. Log Horizon immediately comes to mind. This anime also takes place in a game world where the players are unable to log out. The main character in this story – Shiro – is not the headfast charge in type, but more the cool-calculated person similar to Lelouch in Code Geass. He is an enchanter and strives in manipulating his enemies (and comrades) to win any battle. He uses his in-game skills to the maximum to easily conquer foes more powerful than himself. The world is very similar to Sword Art Online, and there is a lot going on right from the beginning. Once you start watching this show, you will definitely be hooked!

If you’re in it for the fantasy world, a couple anime come to mind. Princess Mononoke is definitely great.

If you’re in it for the shock factor and wondering what will happen next, you should watch

If you’re in it for the whole pictures, i can give you some easy ones. The obvious choice is .hacksign. I only watched the first 2 series. The first one I hated because the main character was such an emo crybaby, but the second one was actually pretty cool. They have reoccurring characters, I think one of them was called Bullmonk, or something similar, and he reminded me a lot of Sesshomaru from Inuyasha. I didn’t really like Inuyasha all that much (not enough Sesshomaru!), but Sesshomaru’s badassery can not be disputed.
